Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments in and out of facility. Oversees the warehouse operations, shipping areas, and receiving areas.
- Develops and organizes shipping procedures according to company policy.
- Negotiates freight rates with outside carrier base and maintain vendor shipping relationships.
- Organize and maintain inventory and storage areas in the warehouse and throughout the main facility.
- Ensure inventory transactions accuracy in the material handling process.
- Monitors international shipments and understands container utilization and methods of packing.
- Manages all customer shipping issues, including claims for loss or damage, and reviews carrier insurance liability on an annual basis.
- Coordinates workflow of shipping team members with production and customer service to optimize cost while meeting customer objectives and shipping schedules.
- Assign workloads and daily tasks to warehouse and shipping team members.
- Produce timely and accurate operations metric reporting for distribution.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for inbound and outbound shipments in accordance with company, international, and commerce regulations.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises multiple employees in the Shipping and Receiving and Warehouse areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
