Recruiter Spotlight: Aaron Frankel Excels in Creating Lasting Relationships

Aaron's main focus is technology placement, specializing in JAVA, Android, iOS, C++, and Storage, but he also works with creative and marketing departments, filling necessary key roles with his clients. 

Tell us about an exciting job match you made recently?

A couple of weeks ago I matched a really nice glass of Tempranillo with a perfectly cooked medium-rare grassfed flank steak and it was exciting. That’s probably not the answer you were looking for, but who doesn’t love red wine and steak?

I recently placed an AngularJS developer with a client I’ve been working with on and off for a few years now. It was exciting because first of all it’s nearly impossible to find an Angular developer in any market, and after the candidate accepted the offer, a few days later was laid off from his current job. One of my big concerns in placing the candidate was that his employer would make him a counter offer, but since he was laid off at the last minute it made the whole thing work out really well from a timing stand point. The other exciting part was that he ended up having to turn down an offer from another former boss who heard about the layoffs.

What drives you to go above and beyond?

I think CyberCoders has a really transparent and competitive company culture. To be honest, I’m driven by not wanting to see my name at the bottom of a leaderboard, and there are a certain few individuals and managers here that I compete with on a quarterly basis. Competition definitely drives performance in a sales environment, so I try to embrace it.

I am also coming up on 5 years at CyberCoders – I know a lot of really good candidates who have had positive interactions with me and are now reaching back out. I appreciate when hard work that didn't immediately pay off comes back to me in the future. I think a lot of people seek immediate gratification, but this is a business that takes you much further if you keep an eye on the big picture. The people who do great in this business are able to understand that things don’t always work out as planned, but by paving the groundwork for long term relationships you end up winning twice as much in the long run. Just ask our top biller Nitu – she’s as good as you can get at forging relationships with clients, investors and candidates and it really pays off and shows in the work she’s able to consistently produce.

What do you think separates CyberCoders from the average recruiting firm?

As a company we really reward those who perform and I think we do a good job at making people feel their worth. Every recruiting firm is more or less doing the same thing, but what makes us different is the people we have, the structure we’ve created and the ability to quickly grow. Longevity too – there are a lot of people at CyberCoders who have worked here for more than 5 years, which is very unusual in a sales forward organization.

We also have an excellent team of guys behind the scenes – we’ve built an entire company based on a piece of technology that Matt Miller wrote and has evolved into a modern platform. It’s crazy to think about how much we rely on our systems to execute, but I always have to give a shout out to my tech team Geoff, Andy, Matt, Tammy, Liz, Jesse, Robinson and the whole crew. They’re awesome.
