Title: Materials Manager
Location: Plainfield, CT 06374
Salary: $100,000 - $135,000 + Relocation $$
Founded in 1965 we are the premier producer of truck & van bodies in the US. We specialize in the manufacturing of dry freight, custom cargo, refrigerated truck & platform van bodies with 14 manufacturing facilities across the US. Our facility in Plainfield, CT has the need for a Materials Manager who oversees and manages the purchasing of all materials, tools & parts utilized in the manufacturing process for the facility. You would have a Materials Supervisor, Lead + 8 material handlers reporting to you directly.
1) Ensure both production & non-production materials / parts are on hand to eliminate production delays
2) Maintain cost reviews & ensure raw material receiving is completed on time
3) Manage all traffic as it relates to incoming chassis & dispatching finished product
4) Maintain budgets for their respective areas i.e. MRO, scrap, cycle count, substitution, etc.
5) Manage the procurement of both direct and indirect material for the support of a manufacturing plan
6) Manage the production scheduling to maximize on-time delivery, productivity, inventory turns & gross profit
7) Manages logistics for both inbound & outbound deliveries
8) Manage Traffic department which coordinates receiving of customer supplied material & shipping of finished goods
9) Manage the supply chain for MRP items that are required for internal distribution
1) Bachelors in Business OR at least 5 years of related experience in materials management
2) APICS certification
3) Understanding of all aspects of supply chain in manufacturing
4) Advanced knowledge of MPS/MRP systems (AS/400 or JD Edwards is a plus)
5) Strong Microsoft Excel experience
