Position Overview:
As a Heavy Civil Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs and timelines for heavy civil construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in CALTRANS, civil construction, heavy highway, public works, infrastructure, transportation, and site development, as well as experience with take-offs.
Key Responsibilities:
Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to accurately estimate project costs and timelines.- Conduct site visits and communicate with project managers and engineers to gather necessary information for estimates.Prepare detailed take-offs and quantity surveys for materials, labor, and equipment needed for projects.- Analyze and evaluate project risks and opportunities to provide accurate and competitive bids.- Collaborate with team members and subcontractors to obtain pricing for materials and services.- Maintain and update cost databases and cost estimating software.- Participate in pre-bid meetings and negotiations with clients.- Monitor project progress and provide cost analysis and projections throughout the project duration.- Prepare final project cost reports and analyze project performance against estimated costs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating.
Extensive knowledge of CALTRANS, public works, and heavy highway construction standards and regulations. Proficiency in estimating software, such as HCSS HeavyBid or Bluebeam.
