What You Will Be Doing
· Analyze system requirements and develop complex applications and drivers for custom hardware in conjunction with lead hardware and software engineers and Product Marketing Managers.
· Collaborate to determine requirements and possible features for products.
· Write design specification for product features.
· Follow software development process to design reliable and maintainable firmware and diagnostic tools.
· Evaluate third party software or hardware to check if it meets design requirements.
· Prioritize, schedule, track, and coordinate the development, verification and release of your code with other hardware & software engineers and program managers.
· Verify software functionality both in your own test environment as well as in conjunction with the rest of the project team and system test engineers.
· Review software, firmware and hardware designs and implementation.
· Perform software configuration management, build and release firmware.
· Perform unit, integration, and system testing, investigate, and resolve bugs.
· Effectively communicate ideas, objectives and plans both internally and outside the Engineering team.
· Occasionally assist with custom control applications for a growing video product line.
· Contribute to improvements in software development methodology and best practices including requirements definition, specification development, and DVT/unit test strategies.
· Negotiate and flush out functional requirements with Marketing Product Managers.
· Effectively communicate ideas, objectives and plans both internally and outside the Hardware team, including presentations to company management.
What You Need for this Position
- 6 years hands-on experience developing software for embedded applications.
- Proven experience writing embedded hardware drivers and middleware for shipping product.
- Proven experience with video processing and codecs.
- Proven experience with networking.
- FPGA experience
- Strong hands-on experience in Multithreading.
- Consistent demonstration of strong firmware development practices.
- In-depth knowledge of C++, java and experience with assembly language programming.
